Please sign the letter below to let our government know that ordinary Canadians (not just US-funded radicals!) are opposed to the Enbridge Northern Gateway Project

Background

On January 9th 2012 Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources, Joe Oliver, released an open letter to Canadians in which he stated that anyone who speaks out against the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline project is a “radical” and has a “radical ideological agenda”. In his letter he implied that such radicals are also opposed to all mining, forestry, oil and gas and hydro-electric development in Canada.

Mr Oliver goes on to say that determinations in regulatory matters involving large industrial projects “... must be based on science and the facts.” Holy cow! This comes from a government that has ignored the science of climate change and taken Canada out of the Kyoto process because it is bad for business, has ignored the facts brought forward by Canadian police chiefs and scrapped the long-gun registry, has ignored the unequivocal science and the statistics and passed ideological legislation to put more Canadians in prison for longer terms, and has muzzled scientists in federally-funded labs across the country.

So if you oppose the Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline, for any reason, then you too are a radical, and it’s time to stand up to the lies and bullying of the Harper government and say so. We need to let them know that all of the so-called radicals are just ordinary Canadians. We are grandmothers, bus drivers, hard-working students, shop keepers, construction workers, nurses and working single parents.
